One More Day!

The school year is coming to a close and it is bittersweet. We had a great year in Grade 4/5! My class was so lovely and kind. In the past few weeks of school, we have been learning how to use iMotion stop motion animation. What a great app! At first, when we shared our creations there were lots of hands visible in their animations. We discussed making sure our hands were out of the way before taking each picture, and the projects improved greatly. My students have been so creative and passionate about sharing their knowledge with the younger children in our school. Here is one animation created by a Grade 2/5 pair.
I hope you are enjoying your Summer break! I'm right behind you!

Take care,

Sunday Scoop-Jan. 17

Hey, remember me? Where has the time gone? I'm going to start the New Year (cough, cough - a little bit late) by linking up with Teaching Trio for their Sunday Scoopl
We got a beautiful new stove just before Christmas that I love! I'm not super comfortable using the convection feature but would like to try it out today with some Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Have you guys ever used Kahoot? It is so fun! My grade 4/5s beg for it. To use it, you create a log in. Then you can use one of the many already created games or make your own. We made one about Canada's provinces and capitals. The teacher opens the game and displays it on the whiteboard/Smartboard. A pin will be displayed that your class enters on their devices. Then a question shows up on the board. On their devices, each student presses A, B, C, or D. It is revealed to each student whether or not he/she is correct. On we go to the next question. You can set how much time you give to answer each question.  Give it a try!
We'll chat soon!

Tricks & Treats: A Halloween Blog Hop and Giveaway!

Well, this Hallowe'en just got better!  I am soooooooooooo excited to be participating in Tricks & Treats:  A Halloween Blog Hop and Giveaway!
For the last few years, my school has Orange and Black Day rather than the beloved costume parade. At least this eliminates those problems like losing parts of your costume, ruining it, or spilling on it.  In honour of this, my freebie to you is some orange and black digital paper.  I hope you like it!
I love to enjoy some treats with my students during the last period of Hallowe'en.  I bring in treats that are orange:  Cheesies (they must be healthy, right?) and carrots & dip.  Believe it or not, the carrots are always a hit!  Every single one gets eaten!  We also do The Monster Mash.

My Secret Word is:

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Worldly Wednesday (on Thursday) - Montauk Style

Today I'm linking up with Melissa from Teacher Abroad for her fun Worldly Wednesday linky party.  What better way to remember our fun summer trips!  I would like to share with you some lovely photos from our trip to Montauk, New York.  Our trip was very short but long enough to give us a picture of how beautiful this place is.

We stayed in a lovely place along the ocean.  You could not walk out to the beach but could access it just a few steps down the road.  Here is our view.
When the tide came in, it went up over the rocks to the wall.  We did a lot of fantastic eating!  Here is a picture of the asparagus fries (for real!) and the best orzo mac and cheese ever!

When on my morning run, I came across some trees that we don't have in our area.  Anyone know what these are? They look like big blueberries.

Here are a few more pictures for you to enjoy before we move on with our day.

Bye for now, Montauk!

We are going to Mont Tremblant for Thanksgiving like we usually do.  This is one of my favourite places.

So does anyone have any of these Bouncy Bands?  I have a friend or two who might benefit from this invention...  Thoughts?
We'll chat soon.

Sunday Scoop - Busy September!

Aside from this terrible cold, that was a beautiful weekend. I am linking up with Teaching Trio for their Sunday Scoop linky party.
Now, here is the September Scoop.  I worked hard packing up, moving down a flight of stairs, unpacking, and setting up my Grade 2 classroom for the start of school.  We had a great time for our 9 days together - super sweet bunch of children.  Here is a picture from International Dot Day.
Then on the second week of school, I learned that they were creating a new Grade 4/5 class the following week.  So I jumped at the opportunity, packed up my things, moved them back to the third floor, and unpacked AGAIN.

So now I've been with my new Grade 4/5 students for 9 days too.  Phew!  That was busy!  I couldn't have done it all without the help of my awesome friends at school and this fantastic person.  Thank you to Melissa from Teacher Abroad who dedicated countless hours helping me do all of this.

My Grade 4/5s have been learning about one of our learning skills:  Responsibility.  They divided a piece of chart paper into four sections and brainstormed how they are responsible at home, at school, for themselves, and for the environment.
We also have done a fantastic art activity.  The idea came from Green Bay Art Room.
Have a great Sunday night!

What a Summer!

This has been the craziest summer ever!  Finally there are a couple of things to look forward to.  First of all, did you hear about a little old sale coming up?

300 × 250

Second, I'm driving to Pennsylvania this weekend to meet my BFF from Virginia.  I have not seen her for a long time so this visit is due!

This is what has been keeping me busy lately.

Currently July and My Blogiversary!

It's Summer!!!!  And it's my second year Blogiversary!  I can't believe it!  Today I'm linking up with Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for her fun Currently linky party.
I think everything is pretty self explanatory...  I have had to move rooms, floors, and grades this year so lots of changes.  My room is still a disaster even though the children's last day was Thursday.  I definitely need a couple of more days to finish up.  Hahahahahaha!
Zoiks!!
My friends were amazing at helping me bring everything downstairs!  THANK YOU!!!!  I will post a picture when it gets into better shape.  It is a lovely bright room.

I got a new Fitbit Charge HR and I LOVE it!  I especially love how you can tap it and it shows you the exact number of steps you have.  I ran my first 10 km distance in a while on Monday.  I got my 10,000 steps by 8:30 a.m.  LOL!

Now, who has a great book recommendation for me?  I just want a fun book.  I enjoy the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child, the Women's Detective Series by James Patterson, The Girl on a Train, Shopaholics...  So mystery and chick lit.  Can you help me out?

Happy Canada Day!!!!!  Here is some maple leaf digital paper for you!
